Refractory mortar can be divided into clay, high-alumina, siliceous and magnesium types according to the material. Different types of refractory mortar are suitable for different environments and needs. For example, refractory mortar is mainly used for the joints of general refractory products, while high-alumina refractory mortar is suitable for high-temperature environments.

The components of refractory mortar mainly include refractory powder, binder and admixture. The binder can be a ceramic binder, a hydraulic binder or a chemical binder. Different types of binders will affect the hardening method and applicable temperature range of refractory mortar. For example, ceramic-bonded refractory mortar needs to be hardened by ceramic bonding at high temperature, while chemical-bonded refractory mortar can be hardened by chemical reaction before it drops below the ceramic bonding temperature.
